Advantages of the HS-1800 Home Power System

Modular and powerful, the HS-1800 includes everything you need to create solar power right out of the box.

Included Solar Panel

This HS-1800 system includes an 80 watt, a foldable solar panel with a long cable and stand that attaches to the generator, saving you the trouble of having to acquire one on your own.

Adequate Power Capability

The HS-1800 features 1800 watts of power, making it suitable for most of your home’s higher wattage devices.

The battery has a rating of 60 amp hours, which provides an ample amount of electrical power time in between charges when using it for smaller devices.

Design

The generator has a modular design, and can be expanded and upgraded as needed.  It has an appearance of a gas-powered backup generator, and can easily be installed permanently to your power supply.

An included transfer switch will turn the generator on immediately in the event of a power grid failure, saving you from having to go and hook it up when everything goes black. This feature is unfortunately rare in off-the-shelf home backup solar generators.

Multiple AC Outlets

The HS-1800 has four neatly-arranged AC outlets located on the front, which helps you to avoid the need of getting a power strip or outlet splitter to power several devices and appliances at one time.

Lower Weight Than Other Backup Units

The generator weighs 76 lbs, which is about 20% less than most other generators in its class. This can make a big difference when the need comes to move it from one room to another.

No Wheels or Handle

The HS-1800 can be a little awkward to move around if you are on your own, as it lacks any casters or wheels for transport. The low weight makes things a bit easier, but the lack of wheels and even a handle can be annoying.

Limitations

There are a few negatives that need mentioning.

Power

1800 watts might seems like a lot, but the HS-1800 is out-powered by many other home backup generators in its class.

The battery’s amp hour capacity is also lower than the typical 100aH that many other backups in this class provide.

Limited Choice of Outlets

In addition to AC outlets, many backup generators provide USB and 12v DC ports on the unit for emergency use, but the HS-1800 does not. It’s not a huge deal for a home backup generator, but we’d like to see every backup unit provide at least one of each.

Conclusion

The HS-1800 is a neat and clean unit that can effectively act as a real automatic home backup system with its convenient transfer switch.

If you only need to power your lights plus a few household items and personal devices during an outage, then you’ll find this generator to be perfectly suitable for your needs.

But if you’re looking to keep the fridge on 24/7, you’ll need more power than this.
