120w solar panel

Bluetti 120W Solar Panel Review

The Bluetti SP120 / PV120 120W solar panel is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a portable high-output solar panel that’s foldable and lightweight.

Most outdoor enthusiasts willfind their choices limited with smaller 50-100W solar panels.

The Bluetti 120 bumps the output to 120W, while retaining a highly portable form factor. You can fill your portable power station in a matter of hours.

The high output also makes the Bluetti 120 an excellent choice for charging up bigger batteries in RVs and boats.

And if you have a home backup lithium power station like the ECOFLOW Delta, 2-3 of these panels are enough to keep it charged.

The Bluetti 120 is designed to make the most out of every ray of sunlight. It’s more efficient than most solar panels, meaning faster charging even on cloudy days.

Read on for our full review of the Bluetti 120 foldable solar panel.

If you are looking for an even higher-output portable solar panel, try the Goal Zero Boulder 200W Briefcase.

Unique Features

1. 120W Output

The 120W output is higher than what you get with most portable solar panels. The typical output for foldable panels is 50-100W.

The higher output allows you to charge bigger batteries and reduce charging time.

If you have a large power station like the Jackery Explorer 1500 or the Goal Zero Yeti 500x, the Bluetti 120 is perfect. Pop it up on its kickstands to maximize exposure to sunlight.

You can also charge extra-large power stations like the Goal Zero Yeti 1000x or 1500x by stringing together 2-3 of the Bluetti 120 solar panels.

2. High Efficiency Monocrystalline Cells

The reason the Bluetti 120 charges batteries fast is not just it’s high output; it’s also more efficient than most solar panels.

For one, it uses Monocrystalline solar cells, making it slightly more efficient than similar power polycrystalline solar panels.

Two, its high transparency allows higher light transmittance, resulting in better efficiency (up to 23%).

The efficient power generation means you can still charge your power station fairly fast even on a cloudy day.

3. Durable & Waterproof

The Bluetti 120 uses an ETFE protective coating. ETFE panels are more durable than traditional PET panels.

ETFE panels can also withstand extreme weather conditions much better than PET.

Whether you plan to use the Bluetti 120 at home, while camping, on a boat or on an RV, you can be sure it’ll last a long time. The solar panel is also waterproof.

Customers say the solar panel feels well made. Though it’s light, it doesn't feel or look at all delicate.

4. Easy Portability

Weighing about 9.5 lbs., the Bluetti 120 is easy to move around with, even for hikers.

It folds into a compact briefcase measuring 16.8” by 16”, complete with a handle so you can carry it by hand.

When unfolded, it measures 67” by 16” and includes four adjustable kickstands to prop it up towards the sun.

The SP120/PV120 also has pre-drilled holes if you prefer to hang or mount it.

5. Wide Compatibility

The SP120/PV120 works with Bluetti power stations, as well as most other lithium power stations including Jackery, Rockpals, Suaoki, Goal Zero and others.

But check whether your power station is compatible with the included MC4 connector. Some brands like Jackery require an MC4 to 8 mm adapter.

Issues & Concerns

Pricey

Performance-wise, customers have nothing to complain about. The Bluetti 120 works as well as promised.

The only complaint is the price. Compared to other 120W foldable solar panels, the Bluetti 120 is quite expensive.

But we think it’s worth it. It’s more efficient and has better build quality.

Care and Maintenance

The SP120’s junction box has an IP65 protection rating, meaning it can withstand some bad weather. But do not leave it exposed to rain and snow for a long time.

As for the panel itself, the ETFE coating is non-adhesive thus does not accumulate much dust. The little that rests on it is easy to wipe away with a soft cloth.

Warranty

The Bluetti SP120 comes with a 1-year warranty.
