An innovative upgradeable design and a 1500 watt output makes this solar generator useful in both outdoor and in-home backup applications. And the price is really hard to beat.

Advantages of the Wagan EL2546
The collapsible design and included solar panels make this a great all-in-one solar unit.
Built-In Solar Panels
In the Wagan EL2546, the solar panels are installed and contained within the unit.
Each panel slides out for charging, giving you maximum charging ability without having to worry about setting panels up.
This makes it easy to use, right out of the box.
The generator features a 1500 watt AC inverter built into it. 1500 watts is enough to power most electronics and many small appliances including microwaves, televisions, coffee makers and small refrigerators (for limited periods of time).
If all you need to do is recharge/power electronics and a few lights, then you can expect to go a day or two without needing to recharge in most scenarios.
If the included 16 watt panels aren’t enough recharging power for you (and they probably won’t be), you can add more panels externally.
For those wishing to add more power storage, there is room for an additional battery which can effectively double your power storage.
The generator’s 1500 watt output and upgradeability make it a suitable backup solar generator for home & portable use.
If you are like most EL246 customers, you’ll probably buy this one for camping or other outdoor events; but when you’re back home and the power goes out, you’ll be glad to have it around.
Built-In Accessory Storage
The EL2546 includes storage bins on the unit that allow you to store other accessories, cables and cords, or whatever else you’d like to bring along with you.
Limitations of the Wagan EL2546
The generator is powerful enough for most portable generator applications and has many useful features, but there are a few drawbacks.
The Wagan EL2546 weighs over 100 pounds, so transporting it is going to be tricky. Yes, the unit can roll on the ground, but lifting it into a trailer or into your RV will require help from someone else.
Slow Solar Charging
The unit’s powerful battery and wattage are a plus, but charging the unit from zero can take 18 hours using the 16 watt panels that are included.
For a faster charge, you will want to buy additional (& more powerful) solar panels.
Wagan’s all-in-one generator is one of the most powerful portable solar generators you can find at this price.
Hauling this 100-pound beast around isn’t for the weak, but the built-in solar panels, upgradeability and integrated design make it useful for a wide range of uses both inside and out of the home.
