Who makes Titan generator?

If you are wondering who makes the Titan solar generator, you’ve come to the right place.

Titan is a versatile solar generator that you can customize to your needs. You can buy it on its own or as part of a solar generator kit with additional battery packs, solar panels and other components.

The Titan solar generator is made by an American company called Point Zero Energy. In this post, I explain who they are, their mission, and the products they sell.

Who Is Point Zero Energy?

Point Zero Energy is the brand behind the popular Titan solar generator. It was founded in 2013 by David Willis, a veteran engineer and installer of solar energy systems.

Point Zero Energy, which is currently headquartered in Weston, Idaho, makes home solar products. They focus specifically on products for home backup and off-grid power.

The main mission of Point Zero Energy is to manufacture efficient, high quality and reliable solar backup systems for homes and businesses.

The family-owned company offers a high level of customer support during and after purchase.

Titan Solar Generator

The Titan solar generator is the flagship product of Point Zero Energy. Most of their other products are designed to work with it.

One of the best features of the Titan solar generator is its versatility. You can customize it to meet your particular power needs.

The base model has a capacity of 2000Wh and a continuous output of 3000W. So it’s pretty powerful. You can use it to power any appliance in your home.

The solar generator also comes with dual MPPT charge controllers that allow super fast solar charging. You can put in up to 2000W of solar power, though you’ll need at least two batteries.

From there, you can customize the solar generator however you want.

  • You can choose whether you want a cheaper 14A AC charger or a faster 25A charger.
  • You can also opt to add a car charger and USB adapters.
  • The Titan solar generator is expandable by simply stacking additional battery packs on top. So it’s easy to achieve the capacity you want for powering your home. Each battery adds a capacity of 2000Wh. You can also expand the Titan solar generator with any other 24V battery using the expansion port on the side.

Similar to most solar generators, the only thing you cannot customize is the power output. Whether you stick with the 2kWh solar generator or expand it to 6kWh, output remains at 3000W.

This can be a major limitation if you want to power your entire home or multiple high-power appliances with the Titan solar generator.

Point Zero Energy says they have plans to introduce an upgraded Titan solar generator that can provide split phase 240V power with an output of up to 6000W.

Titan Solar Generator Kits

If you don't want to do the work of figuring out how many batteries and solar panels you need, Point Zero Energy sells convenient pre-configured kits.

These kits come with everything you need to set up your own solar system. There are three kinds of kits depending on the type of solar panels included.

  • Titan rigid kits - Because they come with rigid solar panels, these kits are designed for permanent installation. They are great for home backup or off-grid power.
  • Titan flex kits - These come with flexible solar panels that can be mounted temporarily on contoured and uneven surfaces such as on an RV or boat.
  • Titan briefcase kits - These come with foldable solar panels that are easy to travel with. A built-in metal stand lets you set them up anywhere quickly. The briefcase kits are great if you want a portable solar generator kit for truck camping, overlanding and other adventures.

Each kit includes the Titan solar generator with 1-3 batteries, solar panels, plus connectors and cables.

Is The Titan Solar Generator Worth It?

The Titan solar generator is well made and designed to last. It comes with a 2-year warranty.

As for value for money, I think it is a bit pricey for what it offers. Newer brands like EcoFlow and Bluetti have capable solar generators for cheaper.

For instance, the EcoFlow Delta Pro has a capacity of 3600Wh and an output of 3600W, beating the Titan in both capacity and output. Yet, it costs slightly less than the Titan solar generator.

Overall, if you are looking for the best bang for your buck, shop around before you pick Titan. See our reviews of the best portable solar generators and the best home backup solar generators for alternatives.

Where the Titan solar generator excels is versatility. Its modular design lets you configure a kit that’s perfectly suited for your needs.

I especially love how easy it is to attach extra batteries. There’s no wiring involved; you simply stack the battery packs.

And if you are hitting the road, you can take the extra batteries off to lighten the kit.

Can The Titan Solar Generator Power My Entire Home?

You can connect the Titan solar generator to your home grid. You’ll need a few more cables, an automatic or manual transfer switch plus a licensed electrician.

But you won’t be able to power your entire home just with Titan, even if you expand it with battery packs.

The reason is the limited 3000W output. All the appliances in your home - fridge, range, oven, heater, TV etc. - running at the same time will draw a lot more than 3000W. Furthermore, the Titan solar generator produces 120V power, thus it cannot run any 240V systems such as central ACs.

What it can do is power select circuits. This lets you keep essential appliances running during a blackout.

What Type of Battery Is In The Titan Solar Generator?

who makes titan

The Titan solar generator uses li-ion battery packs. The main advantage of the lithium-ion batteries is their lightweight feel. They also charge fast and last longer than lead-acid batteries.

That said, li-ion batteries are not the best for large solar generators. Many home backup solar generators like the EcoFlow Delta Pro and the Renogy Lycan 5000 use lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries.

These are heavier, but these solar generators are not designed to be carried around.

The biggest advantage of LiFePO4 batteries is their incredibly long lifespan. They can last up to 10 years, while regular li-ion batteries have a lifespan of about 5 years with daily use.

Point Zero Energy says the Titan 2.0 will have LiFePO4 batteries.

Can The Titan Solar Generator Charge A Tesla?

Point Zero Energy says the Titan solar generator can charge an electric car, though you need an adapter to charge it from one of the 120V outlets.

But it is impractical to do so. That’s because the Titan Solar generator has low output compared to an EV charging station.

It would take days to charge an electric car with the solar generator. You’ll also need lots of additional battery packs for the Titan.

If you want to use solar power to charge a Tesla or any electric car, you’ll need to set up a big home solar system complete with solar panels and a large battery bank.

Where Is The Titan Solar Generator Manufactured?

Point Zero Energy doesn't mention on their website where they make the Titan solar generator or any of their other products.

But it’s highly likely that they manufacture them in China, similar to what almost every other solar generator manufacturer does.

How Do I Charge The Titan Solar Generator?

who makes titan

The Titan solar generator has three recharge options. You can set up a solar array to charge it with the sun. It accepts up to 2000W of solar power.

You can also plug it into a wall outlet using the included AC charger.

If you order the car charger when buying the solar generator, you can recharge it from the 12V/24V outlet in your vehicle.
