1. Our Top Overall Pick: EcoFlow Delta Pro

best 3000 watt solar generator

The EcoFlow Delta Pro has a continuous output of 3600W (3.6kW). It has a similarly high capacity of 3.6 kWh. So not only can you run most appliances off the Delta Pro, you can several at the same time.

The fact that it’s expandable and uses a long lasting LiFePO4 battery makes the Delta Pro our top pick for most people who need a reliable power source they can recharge every day for years, if necessary.

Pros

  • High output and capacity
  • Safe and long lasting LiFePO4 battery
  • Expandable capacity
  • 5 ways to recharge, including from EV charging stations
  • Versatile outlets

Cons

  • Heavy - not easy to move around even with the wheels

Our Review

The EcoFlow Delta Pro has a long list of impressive features. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s break down the mini review into the most notable features.

High Power Output

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is equipped with a powerful inverter that outputs a continuous supply of 3600W. You can plug in multiple appliances without risking going above that limit.

Surge output is double that at 7200W, so the Delta Pro can handle the high startup power that power tools and some appliances draw.

That’s not all. The Delta Pro has a feature called X-Boost that increases continuous output to 4500W. This will drain your battery quicker, but it’s handy in an emergency if you need to operate a high-wattage appliance for a short time.

If you still need more than that, you can get it. You’ll need to buy a second Delta Pro and the EcoFlow Double Voltage Hub.

Use the voltage hub to link the two units. Now you can access 7200W, 240V power. This is great for powering 240V appliances like AC, a water heater, and certain tools. The hub even has a NEMA L14-30 outlet, similar to the one found on gas generators.

Expandable Capacity

Battery capacity is an impressive 3.6kWh. That’s enough power to last you hours or a few days depending on what you’ve plugged in.

If 3.6kWh is not enough, you can expand it to a whopping 25kWh by buying extra batteries and connecting them to the main unit.

In between, there are additional options including 7.2, 9, 10, and 12.5 kilowatt-hours.

With the basic 3.6kWh option, here’s how long the Delta Pro can power various appliances and gadgets.

CPAP (40W)

50 hours

Fridge (120W)

24 hours

50” TV (110W)

27 hours

Coffee Maker (1000W)

3.3 hours

Laptop (60Wh)

57 recharges

Car fridge (60W, DC)

57 hours

5 Ways to Charge

Most solar generators have three recharge options: AC outlet, solar panels, and 12V car socket.

The EcoFlow Delta Pro has all of these, plus two more: smart generator and EV charging station.

The smart generator is a gas generator that can charge your Delta Pro. This is useful in an emergency when the Delta Pro runs out of power. You can buy gas for the smart generator and use it to recharge your solar generator.

A full tank of gas produces 5.4kWh. So you can recharge the Delta Pro about one and a half times.

The EV option is useful when you are on the road or during an emergency and need a quick way to recharge the Delta Pro. You can charge at any Level 2 charging station and it only takes 1.7 hours.

The Delta Pro also charges pretty fast via AC and solar. The AC charging cable inputs 1800W to charge the Delta Pro in just 2.7 hours.

As for solar, the Delta Pro accepts input up to 1600W, so you can set up a large solar array to quickly recharge the battery.

Versatile Outlets

Finally, let’s talk about the outlet. There are plenty of them of all sorts.

They include four 20A AC ports, one 30A AC port, USB-A and USB-C ports (six in total), a 12V car outlet, and two 12.6V DC5521 outlets.

By the way, you can monitor the Delta Pro remotely via an app. The unit has both Bluetooth and WiFi for connectivity.

Issues & Limitations

Because of the large LiFePO4 battery, the EcoFlow Delta Pro is heavy. It does come with wheels and a handle to make it easy to move it around.

But weighing almost 99 pounds, you’ll still struggle to move it. It takes two people to safely carry it up the stairs.

It’s also a struggle to roll it on uneven ground because the wheels are small.

Summary

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is probably the most versatile and feature-packed 3000+ watt solar generator in the market.

It’s great for home backup, off-grid cabins, RVs, boats and any situation where you need lots of power.

best 3000 watt solar generator

The Bluetti AC300 is another good choice if you are looking for a long-lasting expandable solar power bank for your home or off-grid cabin.

This base kit comes with one extra B300 external battery bringing the total capacity up to 3072Wh, with a maximum continuous output of 3000 watts.  But you can add more battery packs to extend capacity all the way to 12kWh, when needed.

Pros

  • Expandable capacity
  • Multiple recharge and output options
  • Charges quickly
  • Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity for app monitoring
  • Long lasting LiFePO4 battery

Cons

  • Very heavy - doesn't include wheels or cart

Our Review

In addition to EcoFlow, Bluetti is another brand that’s introducing some impressive solar generators into the market.

The 2200W Bluetti AC200MAX is their most popular model, but it is limited to 2kW continuous output.

If you need 3000W of output, then the AC300 is what you need.

You’ll receive the AC300 solar generator plus one B300 battery pack.

Combined, the two have a capacity of 3072Wh or about 3kWh.

There are also 6.1kWh and 12.2kWh options if you want to further expand your storage.

Whatever option you pick, the output is capped at 3000W with a surge output of 6000W. That should be enough to power several appliances as well as electronics like lights and devices.

If you get the 6.1kWh or 12.2kWh kits, you can increase continuous output to 6000W and 240V using the Bluetti Fusion Box

Another handy optional accessory is the Bluetti Smart Home Panel that lets you connect your solar generator to your home circuit for automatic power backup incase of a blackout.

With the 2kWh kit, here’s an estimate of how long the Bluetti AC300 + B300 will power different appliances and devices.

CPAP (40W)

65 hours

Fridge (120W)

21 hours

50” TV (110W)

23 hours

Coffee Maker (1000W)

2.6 hours

Laptop (60Wh)

43 recharges

Car fridge (60W, DC)

43 hours

Multiple Output Options

You can access the stored power in different ways.

For AC power, there are six 120V 20A outlets and one 30A outlet in the main unit (the AC300). For DC power, there's one 24V 10A car outlet and one 12V 30A RV outlet in the AC300 plus another 12V 10 A outlet in the B300 battery.

As for USB, you get one 100W USB-C port, two 18W USB-A ports, and two regular 5V USB-A ports in the AC300. The B300 also hosts a USB-C port and a USB-A port.

Oh, the AC300 also has a couple of 15W wireless charging pads.

7 Ways to Recharge

The Bluetti AC300 is just as versatile as the EcoFlow Delta Pro when it comes to recharging.

You have the usual three options: AC outlet, solar and vehicle 12V port.

Max AC input is 3000W (included 15A cable only puts in 1800W. 3000W requires optional 30A cable), while max solar input is 2400W, significantly higher than the EcoFlow Delta Pro.

So despite the high capacity battery, the AC300 charges pretty fast - 2.7hrs with AC and 2.3hrs with solar.

For even faster charging, Bluetti offers dual AC and AC + Solar charging. But these options require that you get an extra B300 battery

You can also recharge the AC300 & B300 from a gas generator (via AC) or a lead-acid battery (using a lead-acid battery charging cable).

Connectivity

Similar to the EcoFlow solar generator, the Bluetti AC300 has Bluetooth and WiFi connections that let you monitor and control the power station from an app.

You can also monitor it via the display on the main unit.

Issues & Limitations

The combined weight of the AC300 and B300 is 127.2 pounds. And you don't get a cart or even built-in caster wheels to help you move the two around.

The modular design helps a bit since you don't have to carry the entire 127.2lbs at once. You can carry each unit at a time.

Still, you should consider getting the Bluetti trolley cart to make mobility easier.

3. Best for Off-grid Use: Renogy Lycan 5000

best 3000 watt solar generator

The Renogy Lycan 5000 is an all-in-one package that provides both high capacity and high power output for emergency, home backup and off-grid applications.

Its expandability and rugged design makes it an especially ideal choice for off-grid power.

Pros

  • High capacity that’s expandable
  • High output
  • Can be integrated into the home grid
  • High solar input
  • Fast charging via solar + AC

Cons

  • Limited output options
  • Very heavy - not designed for portability

Our Review

The Renogy Lycan 5000 feels more like an all-in-one solar system rather than a compact solar generator. It’s designed to integrate into a home circuit.

It even has circuit breakers and surge protection built-in, making it easy to hook it up directly to your home’s breaker box.

It contains a couple of 48V 50Ah batteries that you can see when you open the rear door of the box. These two provide a combined capacity of 100Ah or 4.8kWh.

By connecting additional Renogy lithium 48V batteries, you can expand capacity to 19.2kWh.

Power output is 3500W continuous and 7000W peak.

The high capacity and high output of the Lycan 5000 makes it ideal for any off-grid use whether it’s a home, cabin, outhouse, or RV.

To get an idea of how much battery life you can expect from the Lycan 5000, here are estimated run times for different appliances.

Portable/window AC (1000W)

6.2 hours

Fridge (135W)

60 hours

TV (120W)

34 hours

Coffee Maker (900W)

90 cups

Laptop (60Wh)

60 recharges

Washing machine (500W)

8 washes

Remember you can increase these run times by adding more batteries.

Three AC Outlets

The Renogy Lycan 5000 is really unlike other solar generators. While most power stations boast a multitude of AC, DC and USB outlets, the Lycan 5000 has just two AC outlets.

There’s a 20A AC output that supports most appliances. The other is a 30A AC output for heavier duty applications.

You can use this outlet to power your entire RV. Just note that you may not be able to operate all the appliances at once to ensure you stay under the max amps (30A) and load (3500W).

Tip: Renogy recommends using a heavy duty power strip to power multiple appliances via one of the AC outlets.

Two Ways To Recharge

The Renogy Lycan 5000 is also limited when it comes to recharging. You can only recharge the batteries via AC (wall outlet or generator) or solar.

Luckily, the Lycan 5000 can accept a lot of power. Max solar input is 4400W, more than any other solar generator we’ve reviewed.

For extra-fast charging, combine solar and AC charging to get an input of up to 6800W. This takes the Lycan 5000 from 0% to 80% in just one hour.

Rugged Design

Another big difference between the Renogy Lycan 5000 and other solar generators is the rugged design. This beast is clearly meant for use in rough off-grid environments.

Everything is housed in a water resistant metal housing. The batteries, inverter, charge controller, and circuit breakers are hidden behind a front and rear door. There’s also a viewing window that lets you see the display without opening the door.

All external plugs are waterproofed.

Bluetooth Module

Instead of constantly peering at the display, you can link the Lycan 5000 to your smartphone via the integrated bluetooth module.

Using an app, you can monitor both the inverter and the battery.

Issues & Limitations

The lack of different kinds of outlets can be a big limitation for some users. If you want a solar generator with multiple USB, DC, and AC ports, the Renogy Lycan is not it.

It’s designed mostly for integrating in your home or RV circuit.

The other issue is that the Renogy Lycan 5000 is very heavy. It weighs 265 pounds. It’s clearly not meant to be moved around frequently.

Luckily, it comes with wheels that make it easy to roll it over short distances. Click here to read the review of Renogy Lycan 5000.

best 3000 watt solar generator

The Titan 2000 Rigid Kit offers 4kWh of energy storage and a power output of up to 3000W. It also includes 2000W of solar input from twenty rigid solar panels.

This is one of the best solar generator kits for home backup. It’s easy to set up and can power multiple essential appliances in an emergency.

Pros

Cons

  • No communication module
  • You cannot combine two Titans to get 240V power

Our Review

The base version of the Titan solar generator includes just one 2kWh battery plus a 3000W inverter.

But if you want adequate home backup power for essential appliances and electronics, we highly recommend one of their solar generator kits that include more batteries and solar panels.

Our favorite is the Titan 2000 rigid kit. Here’s what it includes:

  • Two LiFePO4 batteries with a combined capacity of 4000Wh
  • A built-in 3000W inverter with a 6000W surge power rating
  • Two built-in MPPT solar charge controllers that allow higher solar input, and thus faster charging
  • Twenty 100W rigid solar panels with a combined output of 2000W
  • Accessories including MC4 extension wires, branch connectors, and AC charger

When ordering this kit, you can opt to add USB adapters to charge your devices and a car charger to recharge the Titan from a vehicle.

The kit comes with a 14A AC charger that takes about 11 hours to recharge the two batteries. But you can order a 25A charger that recharges in just 6 hours or two 25A charges that refill the batteries in just 3 hours.

Solar charging is also fast.

With 2000W total output, the solar panels can generate as much as 7kW or more of electricity each day (assuming 5 peak hours of sunshine).

They can recharge the batteries in just 2-4 hours, ensuring you end each day with full batteries.

AC & DC Outlets

The Titan solar generator can be integrated into your home circuit using a sub panel and a transfer switch. This allows you to directly power certain outlets and appliances.

But it also works great as a standalone solar generator where you plug appliances into it.

It comes with six 15A AC outlets - plenty enough to power multiple appliances at once. Just keep in mind that the total max load should not exceed 3000W.

There is also one 30A RV outlet.

For DC power, there are four 12V 20A ports.

By default, the Titan solar generator doesn't come with USB ports. But you can add them in your order. There are options for USB-A and USB-C.

What Can the Titan Solar Generator Power?

The 4kWh capacity of this Titan kit can power most household appliances for a few hours. Here are some estimated run times, taking into account an 85% DoD and 92% inverter efficiency.

CPAP (40W)

78.2 hours

Fridge (120W)

26 hours

50” TV (110W)

28.4 hours

Coffee Maker (1000W)

3.1 hours

Laptop (60Wh, USB-C)

56 recharges

Car fridge (60W, DC)

56 hours

Expandable Capacity

Like most of the 3000+ watt solar generators we’ve come across, the Titan solar generator allows you to expand capacity.

The manufacturer says the solar generator is compatible with any 24V battery, including lithium-ion and lead-acid.

Issues & Limitations

There are a couple of features missing in the Titan solar generator that we’ve seen in other 3000+ watt generators.

One, you are limited to 120V power. Unlike the EcoFlow and Bluetti solar generators, you cannot combine two Titan solar generators to get 240V split phase power.

If you need a solar generator that can power large 240V appliances, the Titan solar generator is not it.

The other missing feature is a communications module, either bluetooth or WiFi.

As a result, you cannot monitor the system conveniently from an app. You can only check the small display on the solar generator.

But the manufacturer says WiFi will be available in Titan 2.0.

5. Best for RVs, Boats & Vans: Hysolis MPS3K Portable Power Station

best 3000 watt solar generator

The compact design of the Hysolis MPS3K power station makes it an ideal choice for RVs, boats and vans. It takes up minimal space, yet provides lots of power and capacity.

Pros

  • Compact - perfect for small spaces like RVs and vans
  • High output and capacity
  • Expandable
  • Plenty of outlets
  • Three ways to recharge

Cons

  • Doesn't have wheels
  • No wireless connectivity

Our Review

If you need a lot of power in a small space, the Hysolis MPS3K is one of the best solar generators. It measures 19.8” x 12.5” x 19”. It fits easily in RVs, boats, cabins, and other small spaces.

It even has mounting bars to secure it to a vehicle.

Despite its size, the Hysolis MPS3K power station packs a large 4500Wh 48V Li-ion battery. That’s enough to power multiple large appliances as well as charge electronics for as long as you want.

And if that’s not enough, Hysolis sells an expansion battery pack with the same capacity. So you can set up a 9kWh solar generator kit.

As for power output, the Hysolis MPS3K is equipped with a 3000W inverter, good enough for just about any household appliance. Surge rating is 6000W.

With the 4.5kWh battery and the 3kW inverter, here are some things you can plug into the Hysolis power station (assuming 80% DoD).

CPAP (40W)

90 hours

Fridge (120W)

30 hours

50” TV (110W)

32.7 hours

Power tool (1000W)

3.6 hours

Laptop (60Wh, USB-C)

60 recharges

Car fridge (60W, DC)

60 hours

AC, DC & USB Outlets

The Hysolis MPS3K has four 15A 120V AC outlets for your appliances plus a 25A 120V outlet for hooking up to your RV.

For DC tools and appliances, there’s a 12V 20A cigarette lighter socket and a pair of 5mm 12V 2A plugs.

For devices and electronics, there are four USB ports: two USB-A, one USB-A with quick charge, and one USB-C 60W PD.

Three Ways To Charge

You can charge the Hysolis MPS3K from AC, a vehicle or solar. Charging cables for all three options are included.

It accepts up to 1500W of solar power, so you can charge the battery in just a few hours if you set up enough solar panels.

Issues & Limitations

While compact, the Hysolis MPS3K is just as heavy as other large solar generators. It weighs 120 pounds, so it can be difficult to lift and move.

Wheels at the bottom of the unit would make mobility easier, but they are not included. Your only option is to get a wheeled dolly from Hysolis.

Another issue with the Hysolis MPS3K is the lack of wireless connectivity - either bluetooth or WiFi. You have to check the display to monitor the solar generator.

6. Best Home Solar Kit: EcoFlow Delta Pro Complete

best 3000 watt solar generator

Looking for a complete solar generator kit that’s ready to use off-grid or in an emergency? We recommend this EcoFlow Delta Pro complete solar kit from ShopSolarKits.com

It includes the solar generator, solar panels, and various accessories to complete your setup. As with all solar kits, you will need to install it yourself using the easy-to-follow instructions included.

Pros

  • Complete kit
  • 1200W solar power charges the solar generators in a few hours
  • Expandable capacity
  • Multiple charging options

Cons

  • The small wheels on the Delta Pro don't work well on uneven ground

Our Review

We’ve already reviewed the EcoFlow Delta Pro above, so we won’t rehash the details.

The two most important numbers to remember are the capacity (3600Wh) and power output (3600W).

Now, let’s talk about the extra items included in this kit.

The most important addition is the set of 6 solar panels, each rated at 200W. So you have 1200W of solar output.

On a sunny day, the six solar panels can fully recharge the Delta Pro in 4-6 hours. This makes this kit ideal for off-grid applications and emergencies where you can’t rely on an AC outlet to keep the solar generator charged.

ShopSolarKits.com offers two solar panel options: rigid and folding.

The rigid panels are ideal for mounting on the roof or a ground mounting system. The flexible panels are the best if you’ll be moving around a lot with the kit.

The kit also includes all the accessories you need to set up the solar generator and panels including cables, branch connectors, adapters and even a remote control monitor.

Note: ShopSolarKits.com offers several different Delta Pro kits if you need more power or storage. For instance, they have an off-grid Delta Pro kit with 7200W output, 14.4kWh storage, and 2680W of solar power.

Issues & Limitations

For those who plan to move the EcoFlow Delta Pro outdoors, the small wheels on the unit can be a problem.

They work fine on a smooth or paved surface, but have difficulty rolling on uneven or soft ground.

3000+ Watt Solar Generator Buying Guide

Why Get A 3000+ Watt Solar Generator?

A 3000W+ solar generator is a great choice if you need to power multiple large appliances.

If you only need to power a fridge, there are plenty of smaller solar generators that can do the job.

But if you need to plug in a fridge, TV, fan, coffee maker and microwave, you need a powerful solar generator.

3000+W solar generators are ideal for any situation that requires powering multiple appliances like home backup, an RV, boat, or an off-grid cabin/home.

Pros & Cons of 3000+ Watt Solar Generators

Pros

  • Enough power to support several appliances
  • These solar generators typically also have a large capacity that provides power for longer
  • Perfect for off-grid and emergency applications
  • Most are expandable to increase capacity

Cons

  • High upfront cost
  • Still not powerful enough to power an entire home
  • Usually large and heavy

What To Consider When Buying A 3000+ Watt Solar Generator

Here are the factors and features that matter most when shopping for a high-power solar generator.

1. Power Rating

best 3000 watt solar generator

3000W is usually the max output you’ll find in a solar generator with some exceptions.

The EcoFlow Delta Pro goes up to 3600W and the Renogy Lycan 5000 can produce 3500W of continuous power.

The more power a solar generator has, the bigger of a load it can handle. That means you can plug in higher-wattage appliances or multiple appliances at once.

Also, check if there’s a way to get more power out of the solar generator.

A few of our top picks can double their voltage to 240V and power output. But you’ll need a second solar generator and possibly a connector of some sort.

2. Capacity

best 3000 watt solar generator

With over 3000W in power, you also want a large battery. Otherwise, appliances will quickly drain the battery, forcing you to recharge it frequently.

If you look at the comparison table at the beginning of this guide, you’ll note that all 3000W solar generators have at least 3000Wh in capacity.

Some go as high as 4500Wh.

One of the things we love about these high-output solar generators is that a majority of them are expandable. You can tack on extra battery packs to store even more power.

3. Type of Battery

LiFePO4 batteries (also called lithium iron phosphate or LFP) are the best kinds of batteries for solar generators.

These newer lithium-ion batteries have long lifespans (3500 cycles or more). They are also safer and more stable, especially in hot environments.

Conventional lithium-ion batteries like NMC are also good.

We don't recommend getting a lead-acid solar generator. Not only will it be hard to find, it’s likely to be big and heavy.

While lead acid solar generators are cheaper, they don't last long and you can only draw 50% of the power.

4. Number & Types of Outlets

How much capacity you need depends on what kind of appliances you want to power and for how long. Here’s a solar generator sizing guide that will help you figure out how much capacity you need.

Most solar generators provide three types of outlets: AC, DC and USB.

If you have many appliances and electronics to power, look for a solar generator with more outlets, especially AC ports.

Check if the solar generator has a 25A or 30A AC port. This is handy for powering an RV.

Also check if the USB ports include USB-C or USB-C PD, which are used by most modern devices and gadgets.

5. Recharge Options

You should be able to recharge the solar generator via AC and solar. Most solar generators offer other options beyond these two including a vehicle’s 12V socket, a gas generator, a lead-acid battery, and even EV charging stations.

The more options available, the more flexibility you have. For example, if there’s a power blackout you can recharge with solar or a gas generator. If you are on the road, you can pass by an EV station and quickly recharge your solar generator.

Something else to check is if the solar generator allows dual charging from two sources. E.g. two AC cables or AC & solar. This charges the battery faster.

If you plan to charge mostly via solar, don't forget to check the max solar input allowed. For a 3000+ watt solar generator, max solar input should be at least 1000W to ensure you can recharge the power station in a few hours.

Other Considerations

  • Weight. Some 3kW plus solar generators are heavier than others, and can be difficult to move around
  • If you plan to move the solar generator around frequently, look for one that comes with wheels or a trolley
  • Connectivity. Most 3000W solar generators let you monitor the power station from a phone app using bluetooth or WiFi

Frequently Asked Questions

What can a 3000 watt solar generator power?

A 3000W solar generator can power most household appliances. It can also power multiple appliances at the same time as long as the total draw does not exceed 3000W.

Can a 3000W solar generator power a whole house?

A 3000W solar generator cannot power an entire house. It’s not enough power to run all household appliances at the same time.

It also cannot support some high-wattage 240V systems like water heaters and central AC.

Can a 3000W solar generator power an RV?

You can supply power to your entire RV using a 3000W solar generator. Most of these large generators have a 30A RV plug.

However, you have to be careful not to operate too many appliances at once to avoid tripping the power station.

You also won’t be able to operate any 240V systems like the water heater.
