Huge Capacity…And You Can Expand It
The 4500Wh built-in battery pack makes the Hysolis MPS3K one of the largest solar generators in the market today.
The only ones we can think of that are bigger are the 5100Wh Bluetti EP500Pro and the 5376Wh Hysolis Apollo 5K.
It’s this massive capacity that makes the Hysolis MPS3K an excellent choice for home backup and off-grid power.
If you ever need more capacity in the future, the Hysolis MPS3K is expandable. You can connect up to 5 expansion batteries or additional MPS3K solar generators to increase capacity up to 27kWh.
What Can The Hysolis MPS3K Power?
To give you an idea of how useful the 4.5kWh capacity is, here’s how long the MPS3K power station can power individual appliances.
To account for inverter efficiency and the battery’s depth of discharge (the max you can discharge the power station), we’ve used 80% of the MPS3K’s capacity for these calculations.

3kW Output
The Hysolis MPS3K can power just about any household appliance thanks to its high 3000W output (6000W surge).
It can also handle multiple appliances at the same time. You can run your fridge, TV and a power tool at the same time.
Note that the MPS3K solar generator uses a pure sine wave inverter, so it can safely power sensitive appliances and equipment such as a CPAP machine or an oxygen concentrator.
12 Outlets
The Hysolis MPS3K comes with four 120V 15A outlets, making it easy to operate multiple appliances at the same time.
There’s also a 120V 25A TT-30R outlet for connecting the MPS3K to your home circuit. This is handy if you want to power appliances right where they are via existing wall outlets.
You can also use the 25A outlet to power your RV or boat.
As for DC power, the Hysolis MPS3K offers three output options: a 12V/20A cigarette lighter socket and two 12V/2A outlets for smaller DC electronics.
As for USB output, the Hysolis MPS3K has four USB ports: two 5V USB-A ports, a third USB-A port with Quick Charge capability and a 60W USB-C PD port.
Charges Fast For Its Size
The Hysolis MPS3K recharges surprisingly fast considering its huge battery.
The built-in MPPT solar charge controller accepts up to 1500W of power. If you max out your solar array (keep it within 60V – 150 V DC), you can recharge the Hysolis MPS3K in just 3.5 hours on a sunny day.
AC charging is also fast. The included AC charger puts in up to 1000W of power to recharge the Hysolis MPS3K in 3.7 hours.
You can also combine AC + solar to put in up to 2700W and charge the Hysolis MPS3K in 1.7 hours.
There’s also a car charging option but it’s very slow since it puts in just 120W. Only use it to top up the MPS3K when you are on the move.
Rugged Design
Most solar generators are mostly plastic. In contrast, the Hysolis MPS3K is built into a heavy duty metal frame to protect the sensitive components.
So you can use it outdoors and in rough environments without damaging it. It even comes with mounting bars that you can use to secure it inside your vehicle.
What we are not sure is whether the Hysolis MPS3K has any water or weather protection. The manufacturer doesn't give any specifics. To be safe, we recommend keeping sheltered and protected from the elements and moisture.
Issues & Limitations
Pricey
If you are shopping for a budget solar generator, the Hysolis MPS3K may not be what you are looking for.

Heavy
The biggest downside of getting a high capacity solar generator like the Hysolis MPS3K, other than the price tag, is how heavy and bulky it is.
If you are shopping for a portable solar generator you can handle on your own, this is not it. The Hysolis MPS3K weighs 121lbs.
To make matters worse, it doesn't have wheels. So you have to get two or three strong people to move it around unless you buy a wheeled cart from Hysolis.
We recommend installing it in one place and leaving it there.
Doesn't Use LiFePO4 Batteries
High-capacity solar generators these days use lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4). Examples include the EcoFlow Delta Pro and the Bluetti EP500Pro.
These batteries are heavier but that’s not a big issue since the solar generators are huge and heavy anyway.
The main advantage of using LiFePO4 batteries is their incredibly long lifespan (10+ years).
In contrast, the NCM Li-ion battery in the Hysolis MPS3K has a shorter lifespan of about 5 years if used daily/often.
If you are getting the MPS3K for occasional backup, it can last 5-10 years. But if you want a solar generator for daily use, a LiFePO4 power station will last longer before the battery deteriorates.
Best Alternatives To The Hysolis MPS3K Solar Generator
If you are not sold on the Hysolis MPS3K, here are three alternatives to consider.
1. Bluetti EP500Pro - Longer Lasting LiFePO4 Battery
It’s hard to think there’s a solar generator bigger than the Hysolis MPS3K, but the Bluetti EP500Pro outmatches it by 600Wh.
The EP500Pro has a 5100Wh capacity, making it another great pick for home backup and off-grid power.
Another area The EP500Pro is better than the Hysolis MPS3K is the type of battery it uses. It has a LiFePO4 battery rated for 3500+ cycles to 80% capacity (the MPS3K lasts 500-1000 cycles to 80% capacity).
On power output, the two are evenly matched at 3000W.
However, the EP500Pro offers 6000W, 240V split phase output when you connect two units. This is handy for powering 240V appliances like a well pump, a garage heater or central AC.
The Bluetti EP500Pro also charges faster thanks to its higher 2400W max solar input and 3000W AC input. It also has better output options (including more powerful USB-C ports and wireless charging pads), app control & monitoring, and it comes with built-in wheels.
The last one’s important because the EP500Pro is a lot heavier at 182lbs.
If budget is not an issue (the EP500Pro sells for over $5000), then the EP500Pro is clearly the better choice. But we still think the MPS3K is a good buy at its price.
2. EcoFlow Delta Max - Cheaper & More Portable
If you are not ready to spend over three grand on a solar generator, consider the EcoFlow Delta Max. It’s powerful enough to power household appliances, but it’s a lot cheaper and actually portable.
The Delta Max comes with a 2016Wh Li-ion battery. The smaller capacity and use of li-ion battery brings the weight down to a manageable 48lbs.
If you need more capacity, the Delta Max is expandable to 6kWh.
As for power output, the Delta Max has a 2400W pure sine wave inverter. That’s not too far from the 3000W MPS3K inverter. So most of the appliances you can power with the Hysolis MPS3K, you can also power with the EcoFlow Delta Max.
The Delta Max offers plenty of output options including 100W USB-C and 6 AC outlets. It’s more versatile than the Hysolis solar generator.
Charging performance is also impressive. The Delta Max accepts 800W of solar power to charge in 3.5 hours. It charges in just 1.8 hours from a wall outlet.
3. Hysolis Apollo 5K - Bigger & More Expandable
The Hysolis Apollo 5K is another good choice if you feel you need a bigger solar generator than the MPS3K.
The Apollo 5K, which is currently available on pre-order, has several improvements from the MPS3K.
The biggest is a switch from Li-ion to LiFePO4 battery technology. The Apollo 5K is designed to last a lot longer even with daily charging and discharging.
Capacity has also gone up to 5376Wh and it is expandable. You can add up to 8 expansion batteries to increase capacity to 48.4kWh.
There’s also another huge expansion upgrade — you can expand power output as well. Connect up to 9 Apollo 5K units to get up to 27kW output.
This makes the Apollo 5K the first solar generator that can truly power your entire home. You’ll need to spend a lot of money on expanding capacity and power output, but you can go fully off-grid with the Apollo 5K solar generator.
The Apollo 5K comes in the same rugged metal chassis as the MPS3K, but this time it is wheeled for easier mobility.

All Hysolis solar generators, including the MPS3K, come with a 2-year warranty. The batteries inside have a longer 3-year warranty.
