Best 2000 Watt Solar Generators 2023: Reviews & Buying Guide

Shopping for a 2,000 watt solar generator?

You’ve come to the right place.

What Can A 2,000 Watt Solar Generator Power?

A 2000W solar generator can power most household appliances including the refrigerator, TV, and coffee maker as well as smaller electronics like lights, fans and devices.

If it has a large battery capacity (5+kWh), it can run higher-wattage appliances like a portable AC or fridge.

But it won’t power a water heater, an electric oven, or a residential HVAC system for long.  For these, we recommend buying a solar generator or home solar kit that can output 6,000 watts peak & 3,000 watts continuous, with at least 10kWh of capacity.

This makes 2000W solar generators a good pick for emergency home backup (fridge/lights/electronics), RVs, boats, and vans.

If you usually carry several appliances when you go camping, a 2000W power station can easily power a small cooler or fridge and your lights while keeping your devices charged.

You can also run smaller power tools off a 2000W solar generator for an hour or two. Most 2000W power stations have a high surge output of 4000W or more that can support the high startup power required. But they don’t normally carry enough battery capacity to run power tools all day long.

What’s In This Buying Guide

In this guide, we review and compare the best 2000W solar generators you can buy online. We also discuss the most important factors to consider when shopping for a 2000W solar generator.

1. Our Top Pick: Bluetti AC200MAX

best 2000 watt solar generator

The Bluetti AC200MAX boasts a continuous power output of 2200W, enough to power a wide range of appliances.

The 2048Wh capacity allows you to run electronics for longer. And you can expand it.

Pros

  • Large capacity that is expandable
  • Multiple outlets, including wireless charging pads
  • Charges quickly via AC or solar
  • Long lasting LiFePO4 battery
  • Remote app control & monitoring

Cons

  • Not suitable for running high-wattage appliances like AC or heaters for long

Our Review

We love most of Bluetti’s solar generators, and the AC200MAX is one of our favorites. It is one of the best value 2000 Watt solar generators in the market.

Peak output is actually a bit higher at 2200W, and the unit can deliver a surge output of up to 4800W.

The Bluetti AC200MAX contains a lithium phosphate battery with a capacity of 2048Wh. So you should be able to power most appliances for some time, while also charging your devices and electronics.

Here’s the estimated runtime for different appliances and devices.

Coffee maker (2000W)

68-70 cups

CPAP (40W)

40+ hours

Refrigerator (150W)

15-28 hours

LED TV (120W)

14.5 hours

Laptop (65Wh)

26 recharges

Another good thing about the LiFePO4 battery is it has more life cycles than a traditional Li-ion battery. This means the solar generator will last longer.

If you want to power your appliances for longer, the AC200MAX can be expanded to 8192Wh by getting additional battery packs.

Versatile Output Options

The AC200MAX has one of the highest number of outlets we’ve seen in a solar power station. Here’s a breakdown.

  • Four 2200W AC outlets
  • One 30A RV outlet
  • One USB-C PD 100W port
  • Four USB-A ports
  • Two 15W wireless charging pads
  • One 12V/30A DC port
  • One car socket
  • Two 5521 DC ports for lights and other small DC powered electronics

So you can plug-in pretty much anything including appliances, lights, power tools, medical devices and so on. You can even plug in your entire RV via the 30A RV outlet.

7 Ways to Recharge

The Bluetti AC200MAX is just as versatile when it comes to input options. There are seven ways to top up the power station. Wherever you are and whatever your situation, there’s likely a way to recharge the battery.

If you are at home, the fastest way to recharge the AC200MAX is via the AC outlet. The unit comes with a 400W AC charger that charges the power station in 4.5-5.5 hours.

During a blackout, you can also plug the AC charger into a gas generator to recharge the power station.

Alternatively, get solar panels to recharge it when you are at home or outdoors. The AC200MAX accepts up to 900W in solar power.

Two other recharging options include your vehicle’s 12V socket or a lead acid battery, though these are slower.

For even faster charging, the AC200MAX has options for dual AC charging (requires a second adapter) and dual AC and solar charging.

Issues & Limitations

While Bluetti AC200MAX can power most appliances, it’s not suitable for powerign high-wattage appliances for a long time.

They’ll drain the battery really quickly.

For instance, a 2000W portable AC plugged into the AC200MAX will run for less than one hour. Multiple high wattage appliances like a washing machine and a heater will drain the battery even faster, even if you stay under the 2200W load limit.

The AC200MAX is ideal for powering low and medium size appliances like a fan, TV, refrigerator, CPAP and devices.

You can also plug in high-draw appliances but only those that run for a short time like a coffee maker or hair dryer.

If you want to power large appliances for long, get extra battery packs to expand capacity.

2. Best For Camping: Goal Zero Yeti 1500X

best 2000 watt solar generator

The Goal Zero Yeti 1500X is about 20 pounds lighter than the Bluetti AC200MAX, making it more portable for camping and other outdoor activities.

Its 2000W output means you can power any camping appliance or device.

Pros

  • Lighter than most 2000W solar generators
  • Can run most camping electronics
  • Fairly large capacity that is expandable
  • Multiple output and input options

Cons

  • Pricier than similar solar generators

Our Review

Goal Zero makes solid solar generators and the Yeti 1500X is no exception.

The smaller 1516Wh battery makes the power station lighter (43 pounds) and more ideal for camping compared to 2000+ Wh solar generators.

Despite the smaller battery, the 1500X can still run most appliances thanks to the 2000W (3500W surge) pure sine wave inverter.

And because camping appliances typically don't draw a ton of power, you can plug in multiple of them without going over the 2kW limit.

And when you are not outdoors, the Yeti 1500X is still powerful enough to provide backup power for essential home appliances like your kitchen fridge, the TV, coffee maker and fan.

Here are the estimated run times provided by Goal Zero for different appliances and devices.

Smartphone (12Wh)

127 recharges

Light bulb (11W)

138 hours

Mini fridge (35W)

44 hours

TV (100W)

14.5 hours

Camera (18Wh)

26 recharges

Like the Bluetti AC200MAX, you can expand the capacity of the Goal Zero 1500X by ordering the lead acid Yeti Expansion Tanks (1200Wh each).

All The Outlets Your Need

The Goal Zero Yeti 1500X has AC, DC and USB outlets. While it doesn't have as many outputs as the Bluetti power station, they should be enough for most campers.

They include two 2000W AC outlets, one USB-C PD 60W port, three USB-A ports, one Quick Charge USB-C port, a 12V/30A DC port, two 6mm 12V/10A DC ports, and a 12V/13A car port.

Three Ways To Charge

The Yeti 1500X is also a bit behind Bluetti and other brands like EcoFlow when it comes to charging versatility.

You only have three ways to charge the 1500X, but those are enough to cover most situations.

At home, you can charge the Yeti 1500X via AC. The 120W charger takes 14 hours to fully recharge the battery. For faster charging, you can order a 230W(7hrs) or 600W(3hrs) AC charger.

When outdoors, pack some foldable solar panels to recharge the 1500X from the sun. Max solar input is 600W.

And when you are on the road, plug in the 1500X into your vehicle’s 12V socket.

Issues & Limitations

Goal Zero sells some of the most reliable and well made power stations in the market. On the downside, their products tend to cost more than other brands.

If you are on a budget, there are plenty of 2000W solar generators cheaper than Goal Zero including from proven brands like EcoFlow and Bluetti.

Not only are they cheaper, they also usually have more features than Goal Zero 1500X such as wireless charging pads, additional charging options, higher surge rating and more.

3. Best for RVs and Boats: EcoFlow Delta Max

best 2000 watt solar generator

The high output and expandable capacity of the EcoFlow Delta Max makes it a great choice for powering appliances and electronics in boats and RVs. It’s also a good pick for truck campers and van lifers.

Pros

  • High power output
  • Large capacity that’s expandable
  • Plenty of outlets
  • Multiple charging options
  • Remote app control & monitoring

Cons

  • Not suitable for running high-wattage appliances for a prolonged period

Our Review

Like Bluetti, EcoFlow is another brand that’s been making feature-packed solar generators at a great price

The Delta Max is their flagship 2000W power station. It features an output of 2400W, ensuring you can plug in multiple appliances without tripping the inverter.

Surge output is an impressive 5000W.

That’s not all. Using X-Boost technology, the Delta Max can power 3400W appliances. But because of how quickly it drains the battery, we recommend using this feature for short periods or once you’ve expanded capacity.

The NMC Li-ion battery inside the Delta Max has a 2016Wh capacity that is expandable to 6048Wh with additional battery packs.

To give you an idea of how much capacity 2016Wh is, here are the estimated runtimes for various electronics.

Drone (48W)

127 recharges

CPAP (40W)

138 hours

Refrigerator (150W)

44 hours

Mini fridge (50W)

14.5 hours

LED TV (110W)

26 recharges

Laptop (65Wh)

32 recharges

15 Outlets

These include six AC outlets, so you can plug in multiple appliances at the same time. This is especially handy in an RV or camper van. You don't have to disconnect your mini fridge to plug in the fan.

For devices, you get two USB-C PD 100W outlets, two USB-A fast charge outlets, and two regular USB-A outlets.

For lights and DC powered electronics, there’s a car socket and two DC outlets.

4 Ways To Recharge

The EcoFlow Delta Max is one of the fastest charging solar generators. Using the included AC adapter, you can charge the battery to 80% in just 65 minutes.

Unlike with most solar generators, you don't have to buy a more powerful charger or an extra adapter to increase charging speed.

You can also charge via solar panels (800W max) or from your vehicle’s 12V socket.

Another option is charging from the EcoFlow smart gas generator

Issues & Limitations

Unless you get extra battery packs to expand capacity, the 2016Wh capacity of the Delta Max is not suitable for running high-wattage appliances for a long time.

Plugging in a portable AC or heater will quickly drain the battery.

4. Best for Home Backup: Goal Zero Yeti 6000X

best 2000 watt solar generator

The Goal Zero Yeti 6000X is one of the largest capacity solar generators, making it ideal for home backup. It won’t power your entire home, but can keep select appliances running for hours or days during a blackout.

Pros

  • Extra-large capacity that is expandable
  • Can power most appliances
  • Multiple outlets and inputs
  • Comes with a trolley

Cons

  • Could do with more outlets
  • Takes long to recharge

Our Review

You can set up a home backup system using most 2000W solar generators. But you’ll need to buy extra battery packs to have adequate capacity.

With the Yeti 6000X, you get lots of energy capacity in one neat package that takes up less space and is easier to move around.

The Yeti 6000X has a capacity of 6071Wh and you can further expand this using the Yeti Expansion tanks.

Goal Zero even has a pre-configured Yeti 6000X kit that has a total capacity of 10.8kWh.

Power output is 2000W with a surge output of 3500W. You can plug in almost any household appliance. And because of the high capacity, even high-wattage appliances like portable ACs will run for a few hours off the Yeti 6000X.

Here’s how long the Yeti 6000X can run various appliances and gadgets.

Smartphone (12Wh)

127 recharges

Portable AC (1200W)

5 hours

Fridge (71W)

85 hours

TV (100W)

60 hours

Microwave (1000W)

6 hours

Laptop (50Wh)

120 recharges

Multiple Outlets

For appliances, the Goal Zero Yeti 6000X has a couple of AC outlets. For DC-powered electronics, there’s a 12V car socket, two 6mm 12V/20A outlets, and two 12V/30A high power ports.

And for gadgets and devices, there are four USB ports: one USB-C Quick Charge, one USB-C PD 60W, and two USB-A.

Three Ways to Recharge

The included 600W AC adapter charges the 6000X in 12 hours. You can also charge it from your vehicle or solar panels (600W max input).

Issues & Limitations

For such a high-capacity solar generator, the 6000X has too few outlets. Even the all-important AC outlets are just two, which limits how many appliances you can plug in.

Even the four USB outlets are too few in our opinion, especially for a solar generator designed for home backup. It’s likely you’ll need to charge everyone’s phone plus other gadgets at the same time.

If you need a power station with lots of output options, go with Bluetti or EcoFlow

The other issue is that the Yeti 6000X takes a long time to recharge because of the large battery. Even with the 600W AC charger (the most powerful Goal Zero offers), it still takes 12 hours to fill the battery.

Max solar input is limited to 600W (which is lower than other brands), so it’ll take more than a day to recharge the 6000X via solar.

Unlike some solar generators, the Yeti 6000X doesn't have a dual solar & AC charging option, so there’s no way to speed up charging time.

best 2000 watt solar generator

Versatile Outlets

The Jackery Explorer 2000 comes with three AC outlets rated at 2200W. There’s also a 12V DC car socket, which is the only DC outlet available.

For gadgets, there are four USB ports including USB-A Quick Charge and USB-C PD 100W.

Fast Recharge

The Jackery 2000 offers the three standard recharge options: car, AC and solar. Because it comes as a complete kit, you don't need to buy anything extra to use all three options.

The AC cable recharges the Explorer 2000 in 2.6 hours. The two 200W solar panels recharge it in about 7.5 hours.

For faster solar charging, there are two other kits with 800W and 1200W worth of solar panels

The Jackery 2000 accepts an impressive 1400W of solar input.

Issues & Limitations

Unlike most brands, Jackery doesn't offer expandable solar generators. They don't have battery packs you can link to the Explorer 2000 to expand capacity.

Unlike Bluetti, EcoFlow and Goal Zero, you are stuck with the 2160Wh capacity.

6. Best Budget: Bluetti AC200P

best 2000 watt solar generator

The Bluetti AC200P is one of the best value 2000W solar generators. It’s cheaper than most similar rated power stations, yet it comes with tons of features.

Pros

  • Cheaper than most 2000W solar generators
  • Long lasting LiFePO4 battery
  • Fast recharging via solar or AC
  • Versatile outlets

Cons

  • Not expandable

Our Review

The Blueti AC200P is similar to the AC200MAX in a lot of ways. The biggest difference is that you can expand the AC200MAX by connecting battery packs.

The AC200P is limited to its 2000Wh capacity. But that’s enough for many applications including home backup, camping, RVs, boats and camper vans.

Output is 2000W with a surge rating of 4800W.

Here’s how long the AC200P can power various appliances and electronics.

Coffee maker (2000W)

68-70 cups

CPAP (40W)

40+ hours

Refrigerator (150W)

15-28 hours hours

LED TV (120W)

14.5 hours

Laptop (65Wh)

26 recharges

17 Outlets

We’ve always loved how Bluetti includes an insane number of outlets in their solar generators. In the Bluetti AC200P, you get 17 of them.

These include six AC outlets, USB-A and USB-C (60W) ports, two 15W wireless charging pads, a 12V car socket, and two 5521 DC outlets.

7 Ways to Recharge

Bluetti also offers a high number of recharge options to suit whatever situation you are in.

Not only that; some of these can charge the AC200P really quickly so you don't have to wait forever to use the solar generator.

The AC adapter charges it in 4.5-5.5 hours. You can also plug the AC adapter into a gas generator, giving you an alternative during a blackout or when you are away from home.

You can also recharge from solar panels. Max solar input is 700W.

The AC200P supports dual charging from AC + solar (2.2 hours) or two AC adapters (2.5-3 hours).

Two other options include charging from your vehicle’s 12V socket or from a lead acid battery.

Issues & Limitations

The biggest limitation of the Bluetti AC200P is lack of expandability. If you think you’ll need more capacity in the future, get the Bluetti AC200Max instead.

2000 Watt Solar Generator Buying Guide

What To Look For When Buying A 2000W Solar Generator

Here are the most important factors to consider when shopping for a 2000W solar generator.

1. Power Output (Continuous & Surge)

best 2000 watt solar generator

Check the exact power output of the solar generator. Most 2000W solar generators have a continuous output between 2000 and 2400W.

Surge output will usually be double the continuous output (4000-4800W).

The higher the output, the higher the number of appliances you can run at the same time.

2. Capacity, Type of Battery & Expandability

best 2000 watt solar generator

Next, check the size of the battery.

Typically, 2000W solar generators have a matching 2000Wh battery. But there are exceptions.

Some, like the Goal Zero Yeti 1500X have a smaller battery while others like the Yeti 3000X and 6000X have a larger battery.

The bigger the battery, the longer you can power appliances and charge electronics.

If you think you may need more capacity in the future, get an expandable solar generator.

Something else to check is the type of battery used in the solar generator. The two most common types of power station batteries are Li-ion (usually NMC) and LiFePO4.

The biggest advantage of Li-ion batteries is that they are light and compact, so the solar generator is more portable.

On the downside, Li-ion batteries don't last as long as lithium phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries.

LiFePO4 batteries make solar generators bigger and heavier, but they last much longer.

3. Outlets

best 2000 watt solar generator

At the minimum, a solar generator should have AC, DC and USB outlets. The ideal number of each depends on how many electronics you want to power/charge.

Power stations like Bluetti have plenty of outlets while others like Goal Zero and Jackery have a more limited number.

4. Recharge Options & Charge Times

best 2000 watt solar generator

You should be able to recharge the solar generator through AC, your vehicle’s 12V port and solar panels.

Some brands like EcoFlow and Bluetti offer extra options for added flexibility.

Check how long it takes to charge the solar generator. If possible, get a solar generator that comes with a powerful AC charger that recharges the battery in just a few hours.

Also make sure the max solar input is high enough that you can recharge the battery via solar in less than a day

Some solar generators allow you to combine two charging options like AC & solar to further speed up charging.

5. Weight

best 2000 watt solar generator

Finally, check the weight of the solar generator. Even if you plan to use it at home, you may still need to move it around.

If you live alone or plan to use the solar generator outdoors, look for a lighter unit that you can handle on your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can a 2000W solar generator power?

A 2000W solar generator can power most household appliances including the refrigerator, TV, microwave, hair dryer and fan.

Can a 2000W solar generator power an entire house?

2000W is not enough to power an entire home. At most, it can support 2-3 appliances.

A house needs thousands of watts to power everything at the same time. To power your entire home, get a permanent solar power system or a gas generator.

How long does a 2000W solar generator last?

It depends on its battery capacity. Most 2000W solar generators have a 2kWh battery that can power appliances for a few hours.

And if you are just charging your phone or laptop, the battery will last for days.

Is a 2000W solar generator good for camping?

A 2kW solar generator is excellent for camping, though it might be a bit heavy. It can power most camping appliances and electronics for hours or days.

Can I power my RV with a 2000W solar generator?

Some 2000W solar generators have an outlet that lets you plug in your RV. But an output of 2000W will not be enough to run everything in your RV.

You’ll only be able to run appliances like the refrigerator, microwave, fan, and coffee maker. And even then, you have to be careful not to turn on too many appliances at the same time.

Note that a solar generator cannot power 240V systems like the water heater
